Game consoles, famous game consoles to go on sale in September
Preloaded game devices have become the go-to device for many gamers looking for the best deals on the newest games, as they’re not only convenient but often the best value.
And according to new data from GameStop, there are a number of other preloaded console systems that are worth checking out, including the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
“With over 200 million units sold worldwide, these consoles are extremely popular, but we’re seeing a resurgence in preloaded gaming consoles,” GameStop President and CEO Stephen Kaczmarek told TechCrunch in a statement.
“Preloaded games are an excellent way to try out new games and expand your library while staying connected to the game, and this is the first year they’re being offered for sale in retail stores.”
According to Kaczelmier, gamers who are willing to fork out the cash to buy a preloaded system typically get a few key benefits over traditional preloaded consoles: The console will have more horsepower than its non-preloaded equivalent, and the hardware will run at a lower clock speed.
This is particularly useful for gamers who want to play on older machines, which can require a significant upgrade in hardware.
“Preloaded consoles are a great way to play your favorite games on the go, even on older systems, and their price tag is extremely affordable,” Kacza said.
“While it may not be the best console for every gamer, you’ll save on the cost of upgrades and add a new level of convenience to your gaming experience.”
Preloaded gaming systems aren’t cheap, though, and GameStop is offering a $300 discount on select preloaded systems.
As with any new technology, you’re best to be patient with preloaded games, though.
GameStop will begin offering preloaded versions of popular games on August 4, with the launch of the new Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles set to coincide with that.
You can preorder the Xbox One preloaded version of the upcoming Dishonored title right now.
