The Nintendo Switch console, with its game console display, will be a Nintendo Switch, a source with direct knowledge of the matter told Breitbart News.
The source, who requested anonymity, told Breitbart that the Switch will feature a display panel similar to that found on the Wii U and 3DS.
The Switch will have four controllers and two front-facing Joy-Cons, with a rear-facing controller like the Wii and 3D, but with two more front-faced Joy-Con, the source said.
The Nintendo Switch will also include the Nintendo Switch Dock, a dock that connects the Joy-CONs together to allow for use of the console in a portable mode.
This will enable the Nintendo System to be used as a stand-alone gaming device, similar to the Nintendo 3DS, the Nintendo 2DS, and the Nintendo Wii U.
The device is designed to work with the Nintendo NX system, which will be announced at the Game Developers Conference on January 18.
The NX will include the first portable Nintendo Switch system to be powered by an Intel NUC chip.
The Switch Dock is also expected to be included with the NX system.
While there are rumors that the NX will feature an Nvidia Tegra X1 GPU, the game console panel will likely be based on Nvidia’s Maxwell architecture.
The company has yet to confirm or deny these reports, but there are multiple sources with direct experience with the Nvidia Tegram chips that support the Nintendo hardware.
A separate source familiar with the matter said that Nintendo is also planning to bring the Nintendo Color Switch and Switch Switch Dock together.
The new console will likely launch sometime in 2018.
