The Hindu to be the first online gaming magazine to feature a blackface comic
A popular Indian online magazine is set to become the first Indian magazine to cover a black comic strip, according to a report in the Hindustan Times.
The Hindu, which has been online for nearly 30 years, will be the latest online magazine to incorporate a black strip, with the Indian edition of The Daily Star also scheduled to feature it on its front page.
It will be followed by The Daily Express and Times Now, both of which are slated to debut a black panel comic strip on January 25.
“The black comics have been an integral part of Indian culture for a long time.
We have adopted them as a part of our identity,” said Anjali Prasad, editor of The Hindu, who is a native of Mumbai.”
We are hoping to incorporate the black comic as part of the magazine,” she added.
The news comes just a day after The Daily Mail reported that Indian magazine The Hindu is set for its biggest ever online sale, and the online edition will be launched in India on January 30.
The newspaper reported that the sale will go ahead even though The Hindu has yet to be officially launched in the country.
The magazine has also yet to confirm the exact price of the online sale.
The online edition of the daily newspaper will be sold at Rs 1,848 per month, which is nearly 30 per cent more than its local price.
